Personal Trainer

What made you decide to become a personal trainer?

The combination of a growth mindset, identifying profound needs and viable solutions for others, a "go with the flow" attitude, and a necessity for self-help. I didn't plan this and did not see it coming! It happened organically later in life, and I am glad it did.

Where did you grow up and how did you end up in Marin County?

I was born and raised in Barcelona, Spain. The youngest of five siblings and the only one who left the nest to live far away! My husband is a Marin local. He grew up in Sausalito, Greenbrae, and Kentfield. We are both adventure seekers! We have lived in many places but settled in Larkspur three years ago to support his aging parents. And we love living here.

How long have you been training and where did you get started?

I started in Sonoma County in 2018. My children's school lacked fundraising initiatives, and many parents were unhappy with their sedentary lifestyles. I was also at a complicated personal time and needed self-care, so I founded and implemented the "10-Week Wellness and Fitness Challenge Fundraiser." It became the biggest fundraiser in the school's history, it changed many mom's lives (including mine, and the lives of some dads, too!), and to top it off, it unexpectedly transformed the school's community by forging strong bonds and new friendships among parents that translated into increased overall parent school-involvement.

What do you like most about working at Fit Club For Women?

Fit Club feels like a family to me. The amount of love and care that the owners pour into every piece is heart-warming. From the genuine interest of each member to the unconditional trust and support of each trainer to the daily dedication to keeping the studio and equipment clean, neat, safe, and inviting, Fit Club is a labor of love in every detail. I feel fortunate to work surrounded by such a welcoming and kind bunch.

What fitness certifications have you acquired?

I am a certified NASM personal trainer, nutrition coach, TRX-certified instructor, and soon-to-be Yoga Sculpt certified (working on it!)

What exercises do you enjoy the most (for yourself)?

I like variety. I love compound moves. What could be better than an exercise that targets all muscle groups in a perfect balance of strength, mobility, balance, coordination, and cardio endurance? Here is an example: take a simple squat, load it with two dumbbells over your shoulders, push the dumbbells overhead as you stand tall, driving from the heals, squeezing the glutes, anchoring the core, and stabilizing the shoulders as you balance the dumbbells steadily overhead. Rinse, repeat, and feel your rising heartbeat (I just wrote a poem! Hahaha). Fun!

What would we be surprised to know about you?

I have an entirely different career in Art and Design from my pre-mom life. I LOVE languages and speak five languages fluently. My biggest recent surprise is something my son told me the other day: he figured out that Jeff and I have had 20 different addresses since we moved in together in 1998! A lot has happened since Jeff and I first met in 1996, but it all feels like a blink of an eye. Time flies when we are having fun!

What do you like to do when you are outside of the studio?

I am a mom and love spending time with my family doing hot yoga, hiking, running, cycling, playing tennis, working out, skiing, sitting around the dinner table enjoying a nice meal, or going on our next adventure together. I also love hanging out with my friends. Jeff makes delicious spicy margaritas and "carajillo de Bailey's" (you will have to find out what this one is!) that also make me extra happy. When I have time alone, I enjoy reading a good book, writing, and painting. And I love summer. I am a better human when the sky is blue, the sun feels hot, and the days stay bright longer.
