How long have you been training and where did you get started?
I started as a dance and aerobic instructor in the 1980's. In the 1990's I became a massage therapist and dabbled in personal training. Then in 2017 I found the Egoscue Method and became certified as a Postural Alignment Specialist and have helped a few hundred people learn how they can improve their quality of movement for fitness and vitality.
What do you like most about working at Fit Club For Women?
What a group of dynamic women! Everyone is very supportive of each other and we understand that in our maturity, we may have a few dings and nicks that require some extra care in our quest for fitness, balance and strength. With the small group atmosphere, personalization is possible to motivate and give guidance so we can all work towards our highest potential.
What made you decide to become a personal trainer?
When I was in college as a dance major my professor was in her 60's and very vibrant, teaching dance classes and moving well. Unfortunately my same age my grandmother rarely moved and spent most of her last years in a recliner in pain. Since that time I have been motivated to help others find the joy in fitness so they can remain vital and healthy into their senior years.
What do you like to do when you are outside of the studio?
I currently volunteer at WildCare in San Rafael and work in the bird hospital with songbirds. Believe it or not it can be a very busy and hectic place with 100 or more burds during baby season. I also have been a long time volunteer at the Wild Horse Sanctuary near Redding CA. which has about 250 wild mustang horses who call the sanctuary their home for life.
What would we be surprised to know about you?
In the 1990's i did set decor for Tony Robbins when he came to San Francisco and consequently have walked on hot coals 5 times while attending his seminars. Also as the only female Vice President of an international company with 40 offices worldwide, i jumped into a tray of broken glass at a training in the Netherlands. That's a story that requires a glass of wine to tell....
